Steve Morgenstern from Digital Camera Info put the Nikon D60 under the spotlight recently and lets see how the camera fared. While the camera performed well, it still failed to be the "top choice".The Nikon D60 was found to be a responsive camera with an effective dust removal system. However its Achilles Heel was its limited autofocus system and the cheap plastic body.
"The Nikon D60 sits in an odd niche in the market. It's not the least expensive well appointed digital SLR you can buy, and for just a few dollars more you can buy a substantially superior camera. However, the D60 also lagged in several equally important areas, including white balance and dynamic range."
