October 3, 2005 - According to a survey released by AvantGo, the world’s most popular cell phone internet service, the most coveted electronic gadget this holiday season is a digital camera—beating out high-definition televisions, DVD players, and GPS devices.

Survey respondents who indicated an interest in digital cameras cited image quality as the top factor influencing their purchase, with number of megapixels ranking second and lens quality coming in third. Quick auto focus, amount of optical zoom, and short shutter to shot lag also ranked highly on the list.

Though digital cameras appear to be the must-have electronic item, those who cannot afford to give one as a gift need not worry—according to the survey, a full 60% of respondents said they intended to purchase a digital camera on their own within six months to a year anyway.
