The Nikon AF-S VR Nikkor 70-200mm 1:2.8G lens was tested out by the folks over at Dpreview who think it’s a great lens to invest in. Had the lens been DX', it would have been spectacular as FX just falls short in some conditions.

The Nikon AF-S VR Nikkor 70-200mm 1:2.8G lens was found to be superbly built and produces excellent image quality in DX format. The optical image stabilization is quite effective and the autofocus mode doesn’t disappoint too.

Excerpt from review:
"So overall we're left with a lens which is a great option for most potential buyers, but simply isn't quite up to the demands of full frame capture. For anyone using the Nikon's DX format DSLRs, the incorporation of image stabilization alone means that it's the best option currently available, but FX shooters may well wish to think long and hard before buying."
