Andy Westlake from Dpreview reviews the Sony DA 16-105mm 1:3.5-5.6 lens which was announced in September 2007. The Sony DT 16-105mm F3.5-5.6 has an incredible zoom that is useful in a majority of shooting conditions. The lens was found to be extremely sharp at wide angle and also exhibited an impressive resistance to flare.

However like most lenses the Sony DA 16-105mm 1:3.5-5.6 had its shortcomings. One came across Chromatic aberration at both wide-angle and telephoto ends and in telephoto mode the images were found to be soft.

In the end Westlake concludes:
"In summary, this is a very good lens for Alpha users. The versatility of the focal length range goes a long way towards making up for the inevitable optical compromises, and as such the lens easily earns our recommendation."
