May 23, 2007* – Seiko Epson Corp. yesterday announced the Photo Fine Player P-3000 photo viewer, an updated version of an earlier model. This iteration offers movie and music capabilities and promises a wider color gamut and faster transfer speed, according to an Epson Japan company press release. The Epson Photo Fine Player will be available in June.

The new 40GB Photo Fine Player P-3000 expands on an earlier Epson P-3000, a dedicated 40GB photo viewer used for storing JPEG and RAW images on-the-go. The updated model includes four color filters (Red, Yellow Green, Blue, and Emerald Green), instead of the standard three filters to provide users with Adobe RGB color presentation, according to the release. The Epson Photo Fine Player P-3000 also promises a faster transfer rate, with the ability to transfer a 1GB CF card in approximately 2.5 seconds.

The viewer can play MP3, AAC, and WMA music files and DivX, Motion JPEG, and MPEG 1, 2, and 4 movie files. The Photo Fine Player P-3000 is also PictBridge compatible for direct printing. It is compatible with Windows 2000 and higher and Mac OS X 10.2 and higher and accepts SD, SDHC, CF, and MMC media. Pricing and U.S. availability for the Epson Photo Fine Player P-3000 has not yet been announced.
