July 2, 2007 – Fujifilm recently released a firmware update for the FinePix S5 Pro DSLR. Version 1.08 fixes a corruption between the camera and the Nikon MB-D200 Multi-Power Battery Pack.

With the updated firmware, the camera can now compensate for battery contact failure initially reported between the Fuji S5 Pro and the Nikon MB-D200 Battery Pack

"Contact failure is not occurred regularly. Even with contact failure in a short period FinePix S5 Pro will be frozen in some case. For removing the trouble, new FinePix S5 Pro firmware has been established," according to the company website.

Previous firmware updates (version 1.04 to 1.06) addressed other issues including the Barcode-reading function, the Function Lock, and improved white balance in Flash mode and Auto mode.

Announced at Photokina 2006, the Fuji FinePix S5 Pro is geared for commercial and nature photographers. The Fuji S5 Pro has post-capture face detection, not to be confused with Fuji’s facial recognition technology in shooting mode, so that users can check for sharpness and focus on faces while shooting.

The Fuji FinePix S5 Pro firmware 1.08 is available for download at the Fujifilm website.
