June 21, 2007 – In a nine-camera overhaul of its point-and-shoot product line today, HP announced the addition of four new M-series models. The updated Photosmart M737, M637, M547, and M447 cameras come with higher megapixel counts from previous models at a price range from $99.99 to  $179.99. All the cameras will be available in August.

The new HP Photosmart M737 sits at the top of the M-series line with an 8-megapixel count and 2.5-inch Auto-bright LCD screen. The camera is also fitted with a 3x optical zoom lens.

The HP M637, M547, and M447 have nearly identical bodies but differ in megapixel count. The 7.2-megapixel M637, 6.2-megapixel M547, and the 5-megapixel M447 all have HP Precision 3x optical zoom lenses and 2.4-inch LCD monitors.

"Summer brings not only warmer weather, but family vacations, backyard get-togethers and plenty of other occasions where memories can be captured," said HP Vice President Dan Gilbert of Digital Photography and Entertainment in a company press release today. "HP’s latest digital cameras and printers are not only easy to use, but also empower people to customize and share their photos, their way."

Geared for family photographers and vacationers, the point-and-shoots come with built-in editing functions like the Photosmart cameras before them. The M737 comes with HP’s Slimming effect, an in-camera editing function that makes subjects appear thinner. Users can also access the Photosmart Share option on the M737 to tag images for e-mail. All four M-models have built-in red-eye removal and an anti-shake mode for blur reduction.

The new HP M-series cameras are compatible with Windows Vista operating system as well as Windows XP and Mac OS X v.10.3.9 and higher. The HP Photosmart M737 has a suggested retail price of $179.99. The Photosmart M637 is marked at $149.99. The M547 comes with a price tag of $109.99, and the M447 will retail for $99.99 when the new HP cameras ship in August.
