Las Vegas, Nevada, March 8, 2007 –* In addition to the Leica 300mm zoom lens announced earlier this week, Leica Camera and Panasonic unveiled a prototype of the Leica D Vario-Elmar 14-150mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH lens for the interchangeable four thirds system this week at PMA. With an equivalent 28-300mm focal range (in 35mm format), the jointly developed lens features Panasonic’s optical image stabilization. There was no information regarding pricing, release date, or additional specs, but according to the booth attendant, this information will be forthcoming.

Leica Camera and Panasonic also displayed the Leica D Summilux 25mm f/1.4 ASPH lens (35mm equivalent: 50mm). It is the second interchangeable lens offered by Leica that is for the Four Thirds System, according to the press release. The lens includes an aperture ring and 10 elements in 9 groups. It will be available by April.
