September 18, 2006 – Last week, Minox GmbH launched the DC 1011 camera with gold and diamond editions. The 10 megapixel camera will be available in a 24 carat gold body and encrusted with ten 0.03 carat diamonds in a special edition camera.

"Minox designers have long understood the need to develop unique lifestyle cameras for a demanding market that is always looking for something beyond the norm," stated Minox’s press release on Friday.

The base model is available in an aluminum body. For users looking for "camera jewelry," as Minox calls it, the manufacturer offers the DC 1011 Carat camera with a genuine gold body and ten 2mm diamonds around the Minoctar 3x optical zoom lens. Each Carat camera is hand-finished for a "work of art" touch, stated the release.

The 10 megapixel DC 1011 camera has a 2.5-inch TFT LCD with anti-glare coating to resist solarization. Equipped with electronic image stabilization, the camera also has a voice recorder and video capabilities at 640 x 480 pixels at 25 fps.

The Minox DC 1011 has 32 MB of internal memory and is compatible with SD memory cards and Li batteries.

Minox has not announced pricing or availability on the DC 1011.
