Sony's New A6000 Has the Fastest Autofocus Yet

Sony unveiled several new camera models today, including one that's receiving plenty of attention from Sony enthusiasts: the A6000. This NEX-6 and NEX-7 replacement sports a redesigned sensor that Sony is claiming provides the fastest autofocus in the world.
Powering that claim is Sony's Bionz X processor—the same unit found in the acclaimed full-frame A7 and A7R models—along with a new 24.3-megapixel APS-C CMOS image sensor. The sensor has 179 phase-detection autofocus points built in, enough to cover roughly 90% of the frame. Using those points, you can lock onto a subject in just 0.06 seconds, according to Sony.
The combination also allows for up to 11 frames per second continuous shooting while continuously focusing on a moving subject. Compare that to the NEX-6, which maxed out at 10 frames per second with focus locked on the first frame. We got some hands-on time with the new camera ahead of today's launch and came away very impressed by the improved speed numbers.
