*July 7, 2006 – *Today, Nikon Corp. announced the release of a free 30-day trial of the new photo workflow management software, Capture NX. The upgrade will be available in July.

The photo editing software, compatible with both Windows and Macs, has U Point technology to support JPEG and TIFF files from any source, states the Nikon Capture website.

For RAW files, the Capture website states, "Capture NX applies non-destructive image processing to NEF files, which means that you'll never compromise your original image." Although the NX version supports Nikon RAW(NEF) files, the program is not compatible with RAW format files from other cameras.

Following Nikon’s Capture version 4.4, Capture NX promises an improved browser, simplified batching, and color control point functions.

Nikon Capture NX is retailed at $149.95. For existing Capture 4 users, the upgrade Capture NX will be discounted to $89.95.

The Nikon Capture NX free trial version had not been posted at of the time of publication. The download will soon be available at http://www.capturenx.com/ in the Download section, according to Nikon.
