July 23, 2007 – Nikon last week announced firmware updates for the Coolpix P1, P2 and S6 models. The update for the P1 and P2 models allows the Nikon Wireless Camera Setup Utility v.2.1 to connect wirelessly to the 32-bit version of the Windows Vista operating system. The S6 can wirelessly connect with Windows Vista and Intel-based Macintosh systems.

The firmware update is not necessary for those using Windows XP or Mac-based systems, or those who know they won’t use the wireless connection. For the Coolpix S6, the Wireless Camera Setup Utility v.2.1 can be used to configure a wireless connection to an Intel-based Macintosh computer or a Windows Vista operation system. Those using a PowerPC Mac or Windows XP will not need to download the firmware.

Firmware updates are available for download from Nikon’s website.
