Jan. 22, 2008 - *In addition to a surge of digital cameras, Olympus today announced a new high-speed xD-memory card. The Type M+ (plus) Series xD-Picture Card transfers data at speeds 1.5x faster than its predecessor, according to Olympus. Pricing for the card, which will ship in April, has not yet been announced.

'The demand for faster media with higher speed performance is being driven by developments in advanced video-recording functions in digital still cameras,' said John D. Blakeslee, business manager, digital memory products, Olympus Imaging America Inc.

The card is compatible with all Olympus digital cameras that support Type M xD-Picture Cards. The new lineup of Olympus cameras, including additions to the Stylus, Stylus SW, FE-Series, and Ultra Zoom series, will all be compatible with the new high-speed card.
