April 26, 2007* – Pentax last week released a firmware update for its K10D consumer DSLR, adding Pentax Remote Assistant 3 functions to the camera. Firmware update v1.20 is compatible with Mac and Windows operating systems and is currently available online.

Firmware 1.20 allows users to remotely control their K10D camera the way Pentax *ist DSLR owners can. Pentax Remote Assistant 3 enables users to operate the camera by computer via a USB connection. Using the software, camera owners can control interval shooting or directly upload images to the computer without the use of memory cards.

Pentax states on its website that only K10D users are permitted to download the in-camera software update and are reminded to first format their SD memory cards.

The Pentax K10D firmware v1.20 update is available for download at www.pentax.co.jp/english/support/digital/k10d_s.html.
