June 18, 2007 – Pentax UK announced on Friday a limited edition of the K10D to commemorate the camera's victory in the Camera Grand Prix 2007. The company will only produce 5000 units of the Pentax K10D Grand Prix Package worldwide, which includes a camera body, battery grip and camera strap featuring gold lettering, according to a Pentax UK press release.

The limited edition K10D model celebrates the product's win in this year's Camera Grand Prix, an annual event hosted by the Camera Journal Press Club in Japan. The K10D was selected by a panel of 50 voters, beating out over 150 other still cameras that were released between April 2006 to March 2007. The CJPC noted the K10D's shake reduction and dust removal system.

The special edition K10D comes with the GP (Grand Prix) camera body, a GP Battery Grip (D-BG2), and a camera strap with the Grand Prix logo (O-ST55). Notably different from the original K10D announced in September 2006 is the K10D GP’s gold finished logo and mode dial and dark brown rubber coating on the body, battery grip, and strap.

"With only 150 Pentax K10D Grand Prix Packages available in the UK, the extremely collectable cameras with an exclusive new colour scheme, will be sought after by photography enthusiasts across the country," stated the release.

Each model of the 10.2-megapixel digital SLR features its own serial number and has the latest firmware version1.30.
