August 6, 2007* – Software creator OnTheGoSoft has released Photo Backup 2.6.0, a new version of its backup software. The release includes new features and corrects problems found in previous versions.

According to the website, Photo Backup features include incremental backup, multi-session backup to CD or DVD, archive searches, selective retrieval, independent photo collections, and secure archive management.

With Photo Backup 2.6.0, archives are managed by photo content rather than file name, allowing photos to be tracked even if their name is changed or they are moved to a different location on the user's hard drive. A new file is saved each time a revision is made to the photo.

Current users should be aware when updating to the new version Photo Backup may rescan some existing backup material. Photos removed from the hard drive will need to be rescanned in order for them to show up in the program.

A free 14-day trial of Photo Backup is available.  It may be purchased for $29.95 from OnTheGoSoft’s website.
