Philip Greenspun from Photo.net puts the workhorse Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III DSLR on the spotlight and comes out highly impressed. Calling it "Remarkable", the DLSR is a testament to the engineering prowess of Canon.

The body is weatherproof and the camera accusing to Greenspun manages to produce excellent and accurate images. The 1Ds Mark III is Canon's most durable body and can also be set to write images to two memory cards simultaneously. The EOS 1Ds Mark III has a fast processor, massive internal memory, and an impressive high-resolution 3' screen too.

Conclusion:

"Do you need a weatherproofed camera that is strong enough to drive nails while producing the world's best image quality? If so, the 1Ds is a bargain. If not, the Canon EOS 5D, $2099 (review) is a better value.I never wanted a 1Ds. Now I do. But probably I'll wait for the revision of the EOS 5D."
