Las Vegas, Nevada, Jan. 31, 2008 - *The Photo Marketing Association (PMA) launches its 84th annual International Convention and Trade Show today. Over the next three days, more than 600 exhibitors will launch new technology in digital cameras, lenses, and accessories.

The annual trade-only event, reserved for industry professionals and members of the press, attracted more than 20,000 attendees last year, according to PMA. A similar number is expected this year, with the show floor extending across the equivalent of 10 football fields.

A number of manufacturers have announced innovative new models here at PMA. Some of the highlights include a forthcoming 24.8 megapixel Sony Alpha SLR and  two Sony α (alpha) DSLRs with live view and tilting LCD screens, Samsung's 14.2-megapixel GX-20 SLR, and the latest Rebel XSi from Canon.

We're seeing some trends, as well, with updated face detection, smile detection, and advanced in-camera editing options. Among the editing options are expression modifiers, such as Olympus' 'Expression Edit,' which literally allows users to turn that frown upside down post-capture.

Stay tuned for the latest news and updates from PMA. We'll be bringing you all of the latest news, product video previews, and trends, plus our First Impression Reviews as we get our first hands-on look at these new cameras.
