October 16, 2008 *– Panasonic confirmed today that the company’s Lumix DMC-G1 camera, the first model in the new Micro Four Thirds format, will sell for $799.95 when it ships in November 2008. This price includes the Lumix G Vario 14-45mm optically stabilized kit lens. An additional lens, the Lux G Vario 45-200mm telephoto, will also be available, for $349.95, when the camera launches.

The Micro Four Thirds format, developed jointly by Olympus and Panasonic, supports interchangeable-lens camera designs smaller than traditional SLRs, by removing the mirrors used for through-the-lens viewing in SLRs, using Live View instead for both framing photos and auto focus.
