January 30, 2007 – As part of the L-series "Premium" cameras, Samsung announced today the L74 Wide. The 7-megapixel camera with Touch Screen, Tour Guide, face recognition, and wide shooting capabilities will retail for $299 when it becomes available in North America in the spring.

The Samsung L74 Wide, like the L73 introduced at CES this month, carries a 7-megapixel count but adds a new 3.6x optical zoom for 28mm wide shooting, giving the camera its title. The L74 also increases LCD size to a 3-inch Touch Screen LCD, up from 2.5 inches, allowing users to change settings through the monitor.

The L74, like the L73, is capable of facial recognition that has auto focus and auto exposure for portraits. The camera also possesses Samsung’s ASR anti-shake technology.

Called the "ideal travel companion," according to a company press release today, the Samsung L74 features a Tour Guide function "which provides travel information covering 4,500 regions in 30 countries, helping users to plan trips and find their way while on the road," stated a company press release today. The camera also includes a generous 512 MB of internal memory, according to its specification sheet, allowing users to store plenty of information from their travels.
