August 29, 2006 – HP-owned photo-sharing website Snapfish.com announced yesterday updates to the website with online Group Rooms and an expanded product line of photo gifts.
Acquired by HP in March 2005, Snapfish currently has 30 million members, according to the joint HP-Snapfish press release.
The photo-sharing site will now host Snapfish Group Rooms in which users can create a virtual common area for collaboration.  Extended families or little league organizations could use the Group Rooms, according the release, to add their photos in a safe environment.  Additionally, users can decorate the virtual room with customized themes and personalized URLs, such as smithreunion.snapfish.com, stated the release.  Users can create an unlimited number of Group Rooms for free.
"The Snapfish website consistently delivers a recipe of personalization, controlled community, and value people are looking for," said Snapfish general manager Ben Nelson.
In addition to the Group Rooms feature, Snapfish will update the site with new options including a "by friend" organization feature, a "favorite album" option, and added preview function for albums.
Snapfish is also expanding its photo gift product lines.  There will be more theme and caption options for the existing photo calendars and more templates for holiday cards and MemoryBooks photo albums, available in mid-September.
