Sony Unleashes New A6000 E-Mount Body, Five CyberShots

Bringing a new bevy of cameras to show off at CP+, Sony has announced a new compact mirrorless camera along with five new CyberShot point-and-shoots.
First up is the star of the show, the A6000 mirrorless compact interchangeable lens camera. Sporting a 24.3-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor and a BIONZ X processor, this camera boasts speedy autofocus (Sony claims 0.06 seconds, the world's fastest) and continuous shooting at 11 frames per second. If you like to share your snaps over social networks, the A6000 can be paired to your smartphone over NFC or WiFi. The A6000 will be available this April in black or silver with a 16-50mm power zoom kit lens for about $800, or body-only for around $650.
Next on the list is the first of three travel-zoom cameras, the HX400V. This model is built around a 50x optical zoom lens and a 20.4-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor with BIONZ X image processor. Like the A6000, this camera is compatible with Sony's PlayMemories app, and can share pictures with your smartphone when paired via NFC or WiFi. The HX400V will hit shelves in March for around $500.
Sony's H400 superzoom has an absolutely monstrous 63x zoom lens, the most optical zoom of any fixed-lens camera. Behind it is a 20.1-megapixel 1/2.3" CCD sensor with a BIONZ R processor. A 3-inch, 460k-dot LCD graces the back of the camera, and 201k-dot electronic viewfinder. The H400 hits stores in March for about $320.
Offering a similar experience with less zoom, the H300 will launch later this month. A travel zoom with a 35x f/3-5.9 optical zoom lens and 20.1-megapixel CCD sensor, the H300 also offers a 3-inch 460k-dot LCD and a 460.8k-dot electronic viewfinder for around $220.
Rounding out the CyberShot announcements is the first of two ultra-compacts, the WX350. Though it doesn't have as big of a zoom as the others, it's no slouch at 20x. Like the A6000 and the HX400V, WiFi and NFC are standard. This compact point-and-shoot goes on sale in March 2014 in black or white variants for about $320.
Finally, we have the CyberShot W800—a modestly-specced camera with a very low price point of about $80. Though there's nothing Earth-shattering under the hood with this camera, shooters on a budget might want to take note of a 20.1-megapixel CCD sensor and 5x zoom crammed into an incredibly compact body. The W800 will be available in March 2014.
