June 28, 2006 –* Today, Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. and its parent company, Toshiba Corp., announced its first Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) memory card. The 4G SDHC will be available in September.

The new card has the highest memory capability for photo and video storage in Toshiba’s SD product line. The 4G SDHC conforms to SD memory card standard and has a write speed of 4MB per second.

Toshiba, which has shipped over 200 million memory cards, according today’s press release, says "In the future, cards up to 32G can be developed that conform to this standard."
