Just hold the Scout to your forehead and your phone will begin gathering data on metrics like temperature, heart rate, and blood oxygenation. The data is tracked, stored, and viewed in an attractive iOS app.

While the Scout has been knocking around for some time, it still hasn't quite made it to market. In talking with the people at Scanadu here at CES, it seems that the obstacles holding it back are more bureaucratic than technical. Namely, the Scout is still awaiting FDA approval.

With a promised price of $199.99 and an ever-improving iOS app, the Scout seems poised to boldly go where no personal medical device has gone before.
