There are few things homeowners dread as much as needing a new roof. The cost is only one part, and finding a reliable contractor is a whole other ordeal. Turns out, a lot of you have been through it and had plenty to say about who got the job done right.

Our panel of experts evaluated the nation's top residential roofing companies, weighing manufacturer certifications, warranty structures, geographic reach, and the technology and honesty that homeowners expect. After weeks of voting in our Readers' Choice Awards, the results are in.

Here are the 10 residential roofing companies our readers trust most.

Winner: Home Genius Exteriors

What separates Home Genius Exteriors from much of the competition is that they put their customers first by listening to needs and goals, then clearly explaining how to achieve them. Home Genius Exteriors offers homeowners roofing, siding, windows, exterior doors, gutters, and attic insulation, and is an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor, a designation reserved for roughly the top 1% of contractors nationally. The company also has access to industry-leading products and strong warranty protection, and operates nationwide.

Readers didn't hold back on this one. The word that came up again and again in the comments was "people.” Voters praised the company's people-first culture, its community involvement, and its customer care team, which multiple commenters singled out by name. "They work tirelessly to make sure I am happy with my results," one voter wrote. Others pointed to the company's Cares program and charity work, while another called the overall experience "one of a kind."

Runner Up: Erie Home

Erie Home dates its founding to 1976, and the company has built its residential roofing identity around a product most contractors don't offer: stone-coated, stamped-steel metal roofing that replicates the look of dimensional asphalt shingles, Spanish barrel tile, or wood shake without the vulnerabilities of those materials. The panels start as steel, get stamped into profile, coated with an aluminum-zinc alloy, bonded with UV-resistant stone granules, and sealed with an acrylic glaze the company says is engineered to handle winds up to 120 mph and earn a Class 4 hail impact resistance rating. A limited lifetime transferable warranty backs every installation, converting to 50-year coverage when the home changes hands. Operating across more than 40 states from over 90 branch offices, Erie is a strong choice for homeowners who want to replace their roof once and be done with it.

Voters who commented on Erie Home emphasized the full-arc experience from the initial consultation through the finished installation. "They supported me every step of the way from consultation to installation," one reader wrote. Another shared that a new Erie roof "fixed all the old problems we had with leaking," adding, "I would choose them all over again."

3: Guy Roofing

Three generations of the Guy family have been running Guy Roofing out of Spartanburg, South Carolina, since 1970. That's the kind of tenure that earns a BBB Business of Integrity Award, a run as the official roofing contractor of the Charlotte Hornets, and genuine trust across the Carolinas. The company operates from Charleston to Asheville to Wilmington, installing asphalt shingle, metal, and specialty roofing systems for residential and commercial customers. An in-house metal fabrication shop capable of producing fully custom metal roofing and architectural accents sets it apart from most competitors in the region, as does emergency storm response including rapid tarping and on-site inspections after severe weather. It has a smaller geographic footprint than most nominees here, but in the Southeast, the name Guy carries real weight.

Guy Roofing's voter base reflected its strong Carolinas identity. One commenter summed it up simply: "HQed near me. Great reputation for honesty and good work." A third-place national finish despite operating in a regional footprint speaks to the loyalty the brand has built in the communities it serves.

4: Mr. Roof

With more than 500,000 customers and 150,000 roofs replaced since 1962, Mr. Roof has built a reputation in Midwestern and Southeastern markets—Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee—around one clear promise: The company installs roofs in a single day. Mr. Roof also handles windows, siding, gutters, masonry, and attic insulation, backing all of it with lifetime warranty coverage and branding itself as a single point of contact for multiple exterior projects. Six decades of operating history and a direct dedication to speed and scope make Mr. Roof a credible pick for homeowners who'd rather have their new roof up before the neighborhood even notices the crew arrived.

5: Power Home Remodeling

Scale, manufacturer depth, and a non-franchise structure aren't the most common combination in residential roofing, but Power Home Remodeling delivers all three. The company operates 28 territory offices across 24 states and has served more than one million homeowners since 1992, installing shingles GAF developed exclusively for Power. It holds GAF Master Elite Contractor certification, a designation earned by about 2% of roofers in North America, and was the first contractor to receive GAF's Premium System Professional designation. Installations come with a limited lifetime labor warranty; select territories also offer the Fortitude shingle, a design developed in partnership with GAF.

Voters who weighed in on Power Home Remodeling pointed to its customer-first approach. One commenter praised the company's "commitment to quality service," while another wrote that they "deliver a remodeling experience that feels like it was done by family" and called it a company they would "always trust."

6: Premier Roofing Company

Two decades of insurance claim experience give Premier Roofing Company an edge in the markets it serves—Colorado, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, and North Carolina, where hail and high-wind events regularly force homeowners through the restoration process. The Denver-based company draws a pointed contrast with the storm chasers that descend after major weather events and disappear afterward: Premier keeps permanent branches, a dozen of them, in the communities where it works, and assigns a dedicated project manager to each job from initial inspection through final installation. Every roof carries the company's certified lifetime workmanship warranty.

7: Best Choice Roofing

Best Choice Roofing runs more than 80 locations across over 25 states through a mix of company-owned branches and franchises, concentrating heavily in the Southeast, Texas, and the lower Midwest. The company has built its reputation on rapid installations—it says most take a single day—and specializes in shingle replacement and insurance-related storm-damage work. Best Choice holds Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor status and has been named Owens Corning's largest Platinum Preferred contractor five years running. The company also cites an A+ BBB rating and thousands of five-star Google reviews across its network. We think it deserves recognition for its one-day turnaround and manufacturer partnerships.

8: Legacy Restoration

Plymouth, Minnesota–based Legacy Restoration has appeared on Roofing Contractor's Top 100 list every year since 2016, climbing to No. 16 in 2023, and received the BBB's 2022 Torch Award for Ethics—two credentials that speak to both scale and integrity in a category where both can be hard to confirm. The company focuses on roof replacement, siding, windows, and gutters for single-family and multi-family properties across six Midwestern states from Minnesota to Kansas, and it guides storm-damaged homeowners through the insurance claims process. Legacy holds Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor status and has collected multiple Owens Corning awards for community involvement and product excellence.

9: Feazel

Few residential roofing contractors can brag about a national industry award, but Feazel earned the 2021 Residential Roofing Contractor of the Year designation from Roofing Contractor, a recognition that shows the company's trajectory since Leo Ruberto bought it from its founding family in early 2013. Starting as a single-city operation in the Columbus, Ohio, area, Feazel grew revenue from $5.9 million in 2012 to $185 million in 2021—better than 3,000%—and expanded across Ohio, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and neighboring states. The company holds GAF Master Elite Contractor certification and an A+ BBB rating, and has added GAF Solar Shingle installation to a roster that already includes roofing, siding, windows, and gutters.

10: Aspen Contracting

Aspen Contracting is a family-run storm restoration and re-roofing firm headquartered in Lee's Summit, Missouri, with more than 20 regional offices across 16 states and licensing, the company says, in 48. In operation since 2006, Aspen focuses on complete exterior envelope repairs—roof, siding, and gutters—with particular emphasis on hail- and wind-damage recovery. Its crews train through an in-house Aspen University program and hold certifications from major manufacturers. Every project starts with a no-cost inspection and detailed report, and the company requires no money down. Our experts nominated Aspen for its combination of national reach and a dedicated project consultant assigned to each homeowner from start to finish.
