At the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show this week, Frigidaire is taking the wraps off its new High Efficiency Laundry Center, which pairs a 3.9 cu. ft. top-loading high-efficiency washer with a 5.5 cu. ft. front-loading dryer. Together, the two make a potent, capacious combo for homes with unique space demands.

At 27 inches wide by 31.5 inches deep and 76 inches high, this unit is designed for closets and smaller nooks, fitting into homes without a traditional laundry room or basement setup. Though it isn't a truly compact apartment option like Electrolux's new, ventless, 20-inch washer/dryer combo, it could still be a great fit for the right home.

Frigidaire claims the combo can churn through a quick wash and dry of 8 pounds of laundry in just 45 minutes, when using the Quick Cycle option. The company is also making a big deal of the washer's efficiency—it meets the latest Energy Star requirements, extracting extra water from clothes during the spin cycle to reduce drying time.

This model comes in both electric and gas variants, in either Frigidaire's new Classic Slate finish or white. Pricing ranges from $1,399 for the white electric model (FFLE4033QW) to $1,699 for the Classic Slate gas model (FFLG4033QT). For its part, Frigidaire seems to be putting most of the marketing weight behind the electric Classic Slate version (FFLE4033QT), which has an MSRP of $1,599.
