Sweaters are my favorite thing. They are the beginning and ending of my wardrobe. The inevitable outcome of any and every shopping trip. I will wear them religiously throughout the warmer months, in a state of deep denial about the positive correlation between my rising body temperature and knitwear, and then rejoice the minute the temperature drops below 60 degrees.
As much as I love sweaters, though, they can be a bit financially burdensome if you want to own them in abundance. Therefore, we’ve rounded up the best sweaters you can get for $40 dollars or less, just in time for the holidays. Pardon me while I proceed to fill my shopping cart with this entire selection. A lot of these sweaters are on sale right now, so be sure to grab them before they're gone!
1. A classic turtleneck sweater
H&M is a great spot to go for staple items at excellent prices, and this simple, well-cut turtleneck would be a great addition to any wardrobe. Some reviewers recommended buying the sweater a size larger than you might normally if you prefer a looser fit.
2. A soft, slouchy crew neck
I’m constantly on the hunt for a perfect crew neck, and this lightweight pullover from Target is pretty close to the mark. It ticks all the boxes—it’s cut close to a crop at the waist, so if you're a 'tuck sweater into pants' kind of human you won't be bogged down by excess fabric, the neckline is structured but loose in the event that you want to layer the sweater with a t-shirt, and it comes in a variety of great colors and patterns. Reviewers recommended this sweater for its cozy fit and versatility.
3. A sweater for your dark academia daydreams

In nine great colors, this sweater was a reviewer favorite for its length and oversized fit.
