At CES 2014, EyeSee360 announced the launch of a new video camera capable of 360-degree capture using a 240-degree wide angle lens.

The 360Fly is more than a decade in the making, though we've seen similar technology on Kickstarter recently. Still, it looks like a great implementation of this potentially revolutionary concept, with a particularly stylish geodesic dome–style design.

The camera can sit on a flat surface to soak in its surroundings, or be mounted to a helmet, harness, or tripod for more action-oriented content a la GoPro.

Video can be played back in two different formats: a flattened out, ultra-wide panoramic view or a traditional aspect ratio with the ability to pan around the full field of view while the video plays. There's a smartphone/tablet app that lets you touch to rotate the view.

The new unit appears to perform the same functions as the 360Fly, with direct integration into select smartphones.

The company also showed off an update to its GoPano smartphone camera attachment for Android or iPhone, called the 360MicroFly. The new unit appears to perform the same functions as the 360Fly with direct integration into select smartphones.

EyeSee360 is one in a host of brands under the Voxx International (formerly Audiovox) umbrella, a trickle-down phenomenon that we're seeing more and more at CES 2014.

The 360MicroFly will retail for $99 while the 360Fly will start $399 and come in 16-, 32-, and 64GB models. Both will be available within the next six months.
