Like the colossal sandworms that haunt its sweeping desert landscapes, "Dune: Part Two" is hard to miss. The Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya led sequel debuted in theaters in the United States in early March and nearly immediately became one of the highest-grossing films of 2024.

"Dune: Part Two" is so popular that it's getting an extended IMAX run—eventually, however, it will find its home on a streaming network.

The official digital and Blu-ray release was announced this week, with services like Prime Video and Apple TV getting the film for viewers by April 16, 2024. We've tracked down the future home of "Dune: Part Two," where you can watch the first film, when you'll likely be able to stream it, and more.

What is 'Dune' about?

Frank Herbert's 1965 sci-fi epic "Dune" is one of the most influential science fiction novels to date. Villeneuve's two-part film adaptation of the novel follows the story of Paul Atreides (Chalamet) and House Atreides as they gain stewardship of the desert planet Arrakis and jockey with other noble houses for position in the echelons of the galaxy. Arrakis' sparse landscape is home to a material called "spice," which allows its users a range of enhanced abilities.

Paul and his mother, Lady Jessica (Ferguson), insert themselves into the political intrigues of Arrakis' sandworm-riding inhabitants, the Fremen, when disaster strikes House Atreides. There, they meet Chani (Zendaya) and Stilgar (Javier Bardem). The first film charts the family's arrival and subsequent discoveries on Arrakis—"Dune: Part Two" delves deeper into the world of the Fremen, House Atreides' rival House Harkonnen, and more.

Cast of 'Dune: Part Two'

  • Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides
  • Zendaya as Chani
  • Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica
  • Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck
  • Stellan Skarsgård as Baron Vladimir Harkonnen
  • Javier Bardem as Stilgar
  • Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha

Will there be a 'Dune: Part Three'?

Short answer: Yes! Probably. An adaptation of ""Dune Messiah," the sequel to Frank Herbert's "Dune," is in development, with Villeneuve at the helm. The "Dune" universe is wider than the world of House Atreides—while "Dune Messiah" continues the story, other prequel series written by Herbert's son, Bryan Herbert, and Kevin J. Anderson are also out there to explore.
