The dorm room is going to be you or your child's new home, despite many colleges not providing the best options for comfortable, modern living. You can try to make it more livable (or at the very least more updated) with a variety of electronics including a good laptop and now a television.

Since it's just a tiny dorm room and it's going to be used for studying anyway (we assume) then you don't need to splurge on a feature-heavy, big screen TV. There are plenty of options that will fit in even the smallest of dorm rooms. We've listed some of the best ones we've found below.

Samsung UN32EH5300

We put this one at the top of the list because it's probably one of the best and most complete TVs you can get for the money. For $377 at Dell this summer, you can get a solid performer that also includes a smart platform with great motion and color. If you or your student value entertainment, this is a recommended buy. Plus, at 32 inches, you won't need to worry about space. A purchase comes with free shipping and a $125 promotional gift card.

Sharp Aquos LC-39LE440U

This Sharp Aquos is light on features, and that reflects in its sale price at Dell. We reviewed the similar LE450U and found that while it had great contrast, it was lacking in other areas of the image quality department like color accuracy. Regardless, if you want something a little bigger than the other options on this list, you could check out this 39-inch LED for $399 with free shipping. A purchase also comes with a $100 promotional gift card.

RCA HDTV DVD Combo

If you're looking to save on a media player, you can try out a TV/DVD player combo, which also helps to save on space in a cramped dorm. One model is this 32-inch RCA 720p LED, which is on sale at Best Buy for $229 with free shipping. It's obviously a budget option so don't expect the best image quality, but it does come with two HDMI inputs and a USB port for other media options.

LG 22LN4510

Just because you're tight on space doesn't mean you're not allowed to have a TV. Smaller options like this LG 22-inch LCD show that you can have a name-brand TV for little money. It's on sale through Newegg for $154 with free shipping. You can send in the $25 mail-in rebate to save even more money. It can also double as a computer monitor. Dog is not included.

Sony Bravia KDL-32EX340

We reviewed the Sony Bravia KDL-40EX640, the smart version of the TV seen here, which is on sale at Amazon. We found that it has average performance, but it has a simple and effective design. We expect that the EX340 is similar in that regard, but there's nothing wrong with average if you're paying less. This 32-inch TV is on sale for $295 with free shipping if you have an Amazon Prime subscription.

Seiki SE40FH03

This is the biggest TV on our list at 40 inches. While it's not big by market standards, it still might be a bit large for most dorm rooms, so be sure you have the space before you make a purchase. This deal through Amazon takes $200 off the list price and puts it down to $299 with free shipping if you have Amazon Prime.
