RCA HDTV DVD Combo
If you're looking to save on a media player, you can try out a TV/DVD player combo, which also helps to save on space in a cramped dorm. It's obviously a budget option so don't expect the best image quality, but it does come with two HDMI inputs and a USB port for other media options.

We reviewed the Sony Bravia KDL-40EX640, the smart version of the TV seen here, which is on sale at Amazon. We found that it has average performance, but it has a simple and effective design. We expect that the EX340 is similar in that regard, but there's nothing wrong with average if you're paying less. This 32-inch TV is on sale for $295 with free shipping if you have an Amazon Prime subscription.
Seiki SE40FH03
This is the biggest TV on our list at 40 inches. While it's not big by market standards, it still might be a bit large for most dorm rooms, so be sure you have the space before you make a purchase. This deal through Amazon takes $200 off the list price and puts it down to $299 with free shipping if you have Amazon Prime.
