How we tested

Cooking performance, crisping, cleanup, and capacity were all part of testing the Wonder Oven Pro.

We previously tested the OG Wonder Oven from Our Place and found it to be the best countertop oven for a compact kitchen space. With this newer, bigger version, I tested the Wonder Oven Pro by trying foods commonly cooked in air fryers, such as frozen chicken nuggets, french fries, and viral online recipes. I also tested its abilities as a toaster.

I checked ease of use, cooking performance, even crisping and browning, and how easy the oven was to clean. Loading the oven and how much food it could cook at once were also part of the evaluation.

What we like

Doesn't fall into the air fryer eyesore trap

One of the first things that struck me about the Wonder Oven Pro was how well-designed it is. It looks more like something you'd find on a kitchen inspo Pinterest board than the clunky, uninspired air fryers we're used to seeing. The Wonder Oven I received came in Blue Salt, but three other colorways are available, so you can find one that matches your kitchen.

Surprisingly easy to use

Select a mode, set the temperature and timer, press start: the Wonder Oven Pro's straightforward, three-step process.

I was pleasantly surprised by how easy the Wonder Oven Pro was to use. Out of the box, kitchen appliances can feel overwhelming and complex, but once I set it up on the counter and put it to the test, it proved simple.

Just select your cooking mode, set the temperature and timer, then press start. You'll want to wait for the oven to preheat unless you're using the toast feature, but the interface is intuitive throughout. One thoughtful design touch is that the options interface only activates when you press the power button, so it's easy to tell whether you've remembered to turn off your air fryer after using it.

Non-toxic guarantee

All of Our Place's products are made without PTFE (Teflon), PFAS, and PFOA, so no matter what you order, you can rest easy knowing it's non-toxic. This holds true for the Wonder Oven, which has a recycled glass and stainless steel interior. That's a step up from most air fryers, which are usually made with PFAS-containing Teflon. If you're serious about your health and the environment, investing in non-toxic kitchenware is worth it.

Easy to clean

Cleanup was simple, with no grease buildup left behind on the Wonder Oven Pro's basket or tray.

One downside to many air fryers is that they can be a hassle to clean. When grease gets on the heating mechanism or air fryer walls, it can dry onto the appliance and leave you with a smelly mess. I found the Wonder Oven Pro surprisingly easy to clean. Spraying the stainless steel air fryer basket with warm water left it looking essentially new. The crumb tray, which catches drippings, was also easy to wipe down with a damp paper towel and place back in the oven.

What we don't like

The price tag

The Wonder Oven Pro is $325, which is a significant amount for an air fryer toaster oven. Most mid-range air fryer toaster ovens run between $150 and $250, while budget options are available for as little as $85. The Wonder Oven Pro sits at the high end of air fryer toaster ovens, and there are reasons to justify the steeper price tag, like the design, the non-toxic materials, and the larger capacity, which is worth it if you're regularly cooking for a lot of people.

That said, if you're looking for something less expensive, there are plenty of options out there. Our Place's standard Wonder Oven is just $185 and comes with a much smaller footprint—a benefit for anyone with less kitchen space.

Not great for small spaces

If you're living in a small apartment or just don't have much kitchen counter space to spare, the Wonder Oven Pro probably isn't right for you. If you already have a microwave, knife set, cutting boards, and other items crowding your counter, you'll be hard-pressed to find space for this oven.

If your kitchen is better suited to a machine with a smaller footprint, the standard Wonder Oven is a great choice. We also recommend checking out our list of the best air fryer toaster ovens on the market right now.

Cooking can be uneven

Fries in the front of the Wonder Oven Pro came out perfectly crisp, while ones in the back turned out slightly more charred.

When testing how it handles frozen french fries, I found that the fries in the front of the Wonder Oven Pro were perfectly crispy and browned, while the ones in the back got slightly more charred. This is an issue I've run into with this brand of fries before, so some of it may be attributable to the food itself.

However, the same was true when I tested a recipe for zucchini chips, finding that the chips in the back of the oven were much crispier than those in the front.

That said, when I cooked frozen chicken nuggets loaded only in the front, they came out perfectly crisp and golden. The toaster feature was also effective, taking a piece of frozen sourdough from rock hard to crispy on the outside and soft on the inside in three and a half minutes at 350 degrees F.

Should you buy the Wonder Oven Pro?

Maybe, if you're cooking for a family and value cleaner materials

The Wonder Oven Pro is best suited for households that value capacity and cleaner materials over a lower price tag.

This is one product where it depends on what you're looking for. If you have a family to feed and money to spare, the Wonder Oven Pro (available at Our Place) is a great choice because of its high food capacity, safe, non-toxic build, and thoughtful design.

The uneven cooking from front to back is worth flagging, but few countertop ovens avoid it entirely. If you're a casual home cook who wants a capable air fryer toaster oven to make your fried favorites without the oil, there are plenty of other options out there.
