The Govee Floor Lamp 3 is a smart RGBIC standing lamp built around the brand's LuminBlend+ technology, which uses a 16-bit IC chip and advanced algorithms to produce colors that read as more accurate and nuanced than what you'd typically expect from an LED strip-based lamp.

The dual-ring base operates independently from the main post, giving you the option to run the base alone as a subtle nightlight while the upper column stays off. At 60 inches tall with a slim footprint, it sits comfortably in a corner without demanding attention.

How we tested

The Govee Floor Lamp 3, or a light saber?

I tested the Govee Floor Lamp 3 for over one week in my Brooklyn bedroom, using it as a primary light source throughout the day.

To see what it's capable of, I ran it through its full range of color temperatures for reading and desk work, explored scene modes during evening wind-downs, and used music sync across different genres and energy levels, including up-tempo workout sessions and quieter lo-fi listening.

I also tried the smart home integration via the Govee app and evaluated the assembly process firsthand.

This isn't the first Govee smart lamp we've tested. We've also tried out the Govee Uplighter Floor Lamp, which is our favorite smart floor lamp to date, and we've tested the brand new Govee Lantern Floor Lamp that immediately makes any room feel cozy.

What we like

A color temperature range covers everything

The 1,000K–10,000K range is unusually wide, and it makes a real difference in daily use. I set cooler, higher-kelvin tones during work hours to stay alert, and dropped into warm amber territory after hours to signal to my brain that the day was done. Most lamps only offer a fraction of this range.

The 2,100-lumen output is bright enough to serve as the primary light source in a bedroom without feeling harsh. The 170-degree spread washes light across the wall rather than directing it in a punishing beam, keeping things comfortable for reading and focused work.

Scene modes earn their keep

Govee's app is easy to use and offers thousands of customization options.

The 100-plus preset scenes could easily be a spec sheet bullet point that nobody uses. In practice, I found myself cycling through them. Govee has put thought into the categories, with modes tuned for different atmospheres, natural colorscapes, relaxation, and more.

The LuminBlend+ technology means the colors look layered and atmospheric rather than flat. Setting calm, muted palettes for post-work evenings and vibrant, high-energy schemes for productive mornings became part of my routine within a few days.

Music sync holds up across genres

Music-reactive lighting tends to work well for EDM and falls apart for everything else. The Floor Lamp 3's music sync surprised me by staying coherent across a wide range of tempos and textures. It responds to the rhythm and energy of lo-fi just as naturally as it does to harder techno.

It reads more like a visual complement than the distracting strobe effect of reactive lighting in other products.

Its design doesn't ask for space it doesn't have

At 5.8 inches square at the base and just over five feet tall, this lamp disappears into a corner in the best way. The space gray metal shade and clean silhouette skew toward minimalism, which is exactly what a small apartment needs.

The backlight contour adds a double-sided glow that gives the post itself depth, lending a premium look without being loud about it.

Smart integration works without a hub

Sit awhile and play with the 100 preset scenes for the lamp—it's surprisingly fun and relaxing.

The Floor Lamp 3 natively supports Matter, so it works with Alexa, Google Assistant, and SmartThings out of the box without a dedicated hub. For anyone already in one of those ecosystems, setup is straightforward.

The DaySync feature automatically adjusts brightness and color temperature to track your circadian rhythm throughout the day.

What we don't like

Routing the wires into the base is genuinely frustrating

Assembly is largely straightforward, and the instructions are clear, but threading the internal wiring into the base as directed is more difficult than it should be. The opening is narrow, and the wires don't cooperate easily.

It's a one-time problem, but it's a friction point in what is otherwise a smooth out-of-the-box experience.

Warranty

The Govee Floor Lamp 3 comes with Amazon's standard 30-day return window. For manufacturer warranty details, refer to the product documentation included in the box or Govee's official support page.

Should you buy the Govee Floor Lamp 3?

Yes

We tested the Govee Floor Lamp 3 in a Brooklyn apartment.

For $149.99, the Govee Floor Lamp 3 (available at Amazon for $169.99) delivers versatility and smart functionality that most floor lamps at this price can't match. The 1,000K–10,000K color temperature range alone covers more daily-use scenarios than the vast majority of competitors, and the LuminBlend+ color accuracy makes the scene modes and music sync feel like features you'll use rather than marketing fluff.

The slim, minimalist design works well in smaller spaces, and Matter support keeps it compatible with every major smart home platform without a hub. The wire routing during assembly is a legitimate inconvenience, but it's a one-time hurdle.

If you want a floor lamp that can serve as a solid reading light, a mood-setter, and a music-reactive ambient piece, this is a strong pick.
