The Best Cribs of 2024

The DaVinci Autumn 4-in-1 is a favorite among Reviewed staffers for its adaptable design, sturdy build quality, and its excellent classic styling. It comes in brown, gray, and white—suiting any kind of decor you may have—and it’s also Greenguard Gold-certified, meaning it meets specific standards for materials and VOC emissions.

Like other cribs in this price range, it will arrive in boxes needing to be assembled, but it’s easy to build with simple tools. It’s mostly made of soft pine, so you may find that some pieces arrive scratched or dented. But, for the price, you’re getting a bed that will hold up for years to come.

The Graco Hadley 4-in-1 convertible bed converts from a crib to toddler bed, daybed, and finally a full-size bed. It comes with underbed storage—something you almost always have to buy separately—and it features an adjustable-height mattress to let you drop it down when your child gets big enough to try climbing out.

It’s a great crib, with a very nice design that should suit just about any nursery theme you’re going for. I particularly like the solid back, which is great if the crib will be backed close to a wall with plugs so your child can’t reach through the back, and provides a solid headboard if you plan to use it with the full conversion kit (sold separately).

The Delta Children Essex is a nice, modern convertible bed that comes in soft pine and features a symmetrical design that will look great even if you want to put the crib in the middle of the nursery. It comes in white or gray, with an adjustable-height mattress and a design that converts from a crib to daybed (but not a full- or twin-size bed).

The Babyletto Hudson 3-in-1 convertible crib is an extremely popular and well-reviewed crib that’s Greenguard Gold-certified, has an adjustable-height mattress, and converts to a toddler daybed (but not full- and twin-sized).

It’s a chic bed with a classic design that will suit any decor. It’s a bit sturdier than other cribs, and Babyletto claims it’s made from sustainable “New Zealand pine,” though like all softwood cribs, it will have some other materials mixed in and is still prone to scratches and dents. Just note that this crib is a bit pricier than the others listed here, but it also includes the toddler-rail conversion kit, which typically costs another $70 or $80 with other cribs and may be tough to find.

The Oeuf Sparrow is a very nice product—adaptable, adjustable, convertible, and very sturdy for mattress support. It’s definitely on the pricey side, too, but it has all the features we look for and has been tested in our own homes for years. It’s an excellent crib that has the classic spindle-rail style mixed with modern touches.

The main thing to know here is it will only convert to a daybed or toddler bed (not a full- or twin-size bed), and the conversion kit will cost you about $250 based on today’s prices. Still, it’s an excellent crib that passes numerous safety standards and will suit any nursery beautifully.

The Dream On Me Synergy is the rare “5-in-1” conversion bed, though they’re really stretching the definition there. It features similar design touches to the other cribs here, including an adjustable-height mattress and Greenguard Gold-certified build. It also fully converts from a crib up through a full-sized bed.

The main thing here is that the fifth mode it can convert to is just a full-size bed without a foot rail, but that requires a third-party, full-size frame that you just attach the crib to like any other headboard. It counts, but it’s not really different from the other 4-in-1 convertible crib options on this list.
