Springs in the wheels help the Eufy G30 Edge go over obstacles up to two-thirds of an inch tall.

It gets floors clean

Our testing floor boasts simulated furniture legs, shelving, rugs, and thresholds, and the G30 Edge did a pretty good job cleaning up, especially under shelving and on rugs. On average, this G30 Edge picked up about 9.7 grams of dirt. By comparison, the most powerful robot vacuums we’ve tested pick up between 10 and 13 grams, like the iRobot i7+. If you run the G30 Edge every day, we’d estimate you can drastically reduce the number of manual cleans you have to do every month.

We also found that the G30 Edge climbed atop our 2/3-inch threshold with no issues, which is an important asset if you have multiple surfaces in your home that you want to clean. It can switch between bare floors to carpet or tile without issue.

It includes a magnetic barrier

Many entry-level robot vacuums come with no way of restraining them to an area while they’re in use. However, the G30 Edge comes with a 13-foot magnetic strip, which can be placed in front of doorways or pet beds—essentially wherever you want—and this robot vacuum will not cross it. Sure, it sounds a bit trivial, until you need to keep the robot vacuum from bumping into the litter box. You’d be surprised at just how many similarly priced competitors don’t have any type of barriers at all.

It cleans quickly and efficiently

It’s very common for entry-level to run until their battery runs out, taking over an hour to clean a room. The G30 Edge spent about 20 minutes per 100 square feet. That’s faster than most older Eufy models, and it’s certainly faster other robot vacuums at this price point.

Imagine learning that you’ll be entertaining last-minute guests. One tap of the button and off the G30 Edge goes, pinch hitting for your upright. Combine its fast cleaning cycles with the ability to start this automated floor cleaner from anywhere, and you can have faith that the job will be done by the time your guests arrive.

What we don’t like

It’s inefficient at cleaning tight spaces

Our testing showed that the G30 Edge needs plenty of clearance to clean.

Our testing showed that the G30 Edge needs plenty of clearance to clean.

During testing, we noticed that the G30 Edge is cautious when it comes to moving around. This is a good thing when it means that the robot vacuum won’t ram into furniture very hard. However, the downside is that the G30 Edge doesn’t get its brushes into all the nooks, crannies, and corners of your home.

Eufy makes other models that are just as good

While the G30 Edge is very affordable, Eufy makes several models that are cheaper and that clean to the same standard. For example, the Eufy Robovac 30C, which is one of our favorite smart robot vacuums, cleans just about as well and comes with two magnetic barriers. The G30 Edge has a more powerful motor, so it fares better against pet hair and debris, but at the time of writing this review, it costs $100 more.

What users are saying

We reviewed the G30 Edge early in its lifecycle so there are few reviews to be found. However, of what we did read, users seem to like the fact that this model is powerful and quiet. The major complaint we’ve seen revolves around the fact that the G30 Edge is incompatible with 5G routers, even if they are dual-band, so you’ll need to set your router to 2.4 GHz during setup.

Should you buy the Eufy G30 Edge?

Yes, if you can find one on sale for under $250. At this price, it’s a steal.

However, right now, Eufy’s older models edge out the G30 Edge in terms of value because they clean just as well (the 11S) and/or have many of the same features the 30C.
