Not sure what to get the gamer on your list? Just ask their parents, 40 percent of whom expect to spend more on game-related gifts this year than they did last year, according to a new survey. The data also revealed the top six video game systems that parents plan to buy this year. Below are the most popular consoles and devices, from the new and improved PlayStation 4 Pro to the Nintendo Switch that everyone is obsessed with.
1. PlayStation 4
Whether you go with the regular PS4 or the upgraded PS4 Pro, you'll be gifting an incredible gaming system. With a massive 1TB of storage space and a vast library of games and movies to browse though, it offers endless hours of entertainment. And if you're willing to splurge, the PS4 Pro (which works with all past PS games) has better power, better speed, and better graphics thanks to its 4K and HDR compatibility.

2. Nintendo Switch
One of the year's hottest tech gifts, the Nintendo Switch is more than just a home gaming console. Not only can it be split off into two wireless controllers but it can also easily be untethered from your TV and turned into a handheld device for on-the-go play. Bonus: The battery can last for up to nine hours depending on the game.
3. Xbox One X
There's a reason that the Xbox One X claims to be "Microsoft's most powerful game console ever." It can play almost any type of media imaginable from DVDs to Blu-Ray to anything streamed via a USB. Plus, it boasts both 4K and HDR resolution so you'll get some of the highest-quality, most vivid graphics for the ultimate gaming experience.
4. A smartphone
When it comes to mobile gaming, the iPhone 11 is one of the (if not the) best options. The newest release from Apple has faster speeds and a longer battery life than previous models along with a super bright OLED display—perfect for gamers and non-gamers alike. Your giftee will also have their pick of games thanks to the vast library in Apple Arcade.
5. A laptop
A large HD display, a fast refresh rate, and a super powerful processor—all things you need in a gaming laptop and all things that the Acer Nitro 7 has for less than $1,000. Our experts also love its long battery life. It can run for four straight hours of continuous use before it needs to be recharged.
6. A tablet
The Amazon Fire 8 isn't just our favorite kids tablet of the year—it's also one of the best tablets for gaming. Easy to set up and even easier to use, it comes pre-loaded with tons of free content along with access to over 13,000 games, apps, and more. And not only are the picture and audio quality great but the tablet is also durable and held up well during our drop tests.
