LG Electronics announced a new partnership with PayPal, making it the first company to offer the online payment service on a smart TV platform.

This partnership lets owners of LG smart TVs the option to pay for apps and products with their PayPal accounts, rather than a credit card. Users will only need to sign in with their PayPal credentials once, if they choose—no more entering credit card info for every transaction. The service is available now on LG's 2013 smart TVs.

“PayPal significantly reduces the number of steps the user has to take in order to complete a transaction; saving them time by eliminating the need to enter credit card and address details for each subsequent purchase," said Richard Choi, senior vice president of the Smart Business Center at LG Electronics. He went on to say that PayPal's simplified payment system would create a more user-friendly smart TV platform for LG.

The news isn't exactly game-changing, but it's one more small step toward a smoother smart TV experience.
