Vizio showed off its new Portable Smart Audio speakers at the International CES today. Their primary distinguishing feature? They boast an Android-powered touchscreen display.
The speakers come in two sizes: 4.7 inches and 7 inches. While buyers can pair these smart little boomboxes with other devices via WiFi, the main draw is using the Android-powered touchscreen display.
Besting many newly released smartphones, the speakers even run on the latest version of Google's mobile operating system, 4.4 Kit Kat. The system is powered by a quad-core processor for snappy performance.
Vizio says the Portable Smart Audio speakers have onboard memory for playing your personal music files, plus access to all of the Android ecosystem's music- and video-streaming apps. Vizio promises volume of up to 95 dB in the 7-inch model, and bass frequencies as low as 60 Hz.
The 4.7-inch model weighs a slightly hefty 3.6 pounds, while the 7-inch model tips the scales at 8.8 pounds. Both feature a 3.5mm audio jack and a USB 2.0 port. Release dates and pricing info are not yet available.
