Withings, a French startup known for its Activité smartwatches, is announcing a partnership with Spotify to help you sleep better. In addition, the company is finally bringing Android support to the rest of its product lineup.
Announced at IFA 2015, the Spotify partnership will see the addition of Spotify playlists to the Withings Aura Total Sleep System, a sleep tracking and improvement device that we tested along with other Withings products.
The Aura uses sounds to help you fall asleep and wake up better, but will now gain the ability to use Spotify playlists instead. You can either make your own playlists or use a recommendation engine that will incorporate your music tastes into custom playlists for both falling asleep and waking up.
The new feature will come to existing Aura devices, so current owners aren't left out. The Aura also now works with Android, as does the Withings Home security camera, making the entire Withings lineup Android compatible.
In an interesting twist, Withings is also now selling the Aura without its sleep tracking pad and the lamp's embedded sensor, allowing consumers to take advantage of its sleep-inducing sound system for a lower price. Withings is calling it the Aura Connected Alarm Clock, which will retail for $189. The Withings Aura Total Sleep System will remain on sale for $299.
