Electrolux and LG have long been two of the best brands for front-load washers, and not just in our own testing. Multiple outlets rate them both as highly reliable. Electrolux models have often been our top-rated washers over the past decade, and the 4.5-cu.ft. Electrolux ELFW7637AT continues that legacy with exceptional cleaning and smart design. The 5.0-cu.ft. LG WM6700HBA brings high-tech features and a large capacity to the table. Both are stackable front-loaders with matching dryers available, making them well-suited for a modern laundry setup. We’ve compared their performance, features, warranties, reliability, and more to determine which one comes out on top for you and your family.

Electrolux ELFW7637AT
  • Dimensions: 27″ x 38″ x 32″ (W x H x D)
  • Capacity: 4.5 cu. ft.
  • Finishes: Titanium, white
  • Special Features: Steam, Allergen, Extended Refresh
  • Energy Star rated: Yes
  • Matching Dryer: Electrolux ELFE7637AT

The Electrolux ELFW7637AT (sometimes known as the “600 Series”) is currently our top-rated front-load washer. Our testing proved that it's fantastic at cleaning clothes. It can run true sanitize cycles and an NSF-certified Allergen option to eliminate germs and allergens. Nifty features like a detergent pod dispenser and Extended Refresh (which tumbles clothes periodically after a cycle ends to prevent musty odors) make laundry that much more convenient. The control panel is straightforward with a smooth dial and clear labeling, typical of Electrolux’s attention to user-friendly design. Overall, the 600 Series’ blend of stain-removal performance, limited but useful features, and solid build quality has made it a top pick in our tests.

Pros

  • Extraordinary cleaning power

  • Has its own internal heater

  • Easy-to-read controls

Cons

  • A few slow cycles

LG WM6700HBA
  • Dimensions: 27″ x 39″ x 33 1/4" (W x H x D)
  • Capacity: 5.0 cu. ft.
  • Finishes: Black Steel
  • Special Features: TurboWash 360°, Smart Pairing, AI Wash, LG ThinQ app support
  • Energy Star rated: Yes
  • Matching Dryer: LG DLEX6700B (electric) / DLGX6701B (gas)

The LG WM6700HBA is a high-tech, high-capacity front-load washer designed for big and busy households. Its 5.0-cu.ft. drum can handle larger loads of laundry, and LG’s TurboWash 360° feature uses five powerful spray jets to shorten cycle times without sacrificing cleaning (many loads can be done in ~30 minutes). This washer also features an AI Wash system (essentially, just a group of several good sensors) that senses fabric texture and soil levels to customize the wash motions and settings for optimal care. An automatic ezDispense system holds and dispenses detergent for up to 18 loads, so you don’t have to measure soap each time. The WM6700HBA is Wi-Fi enabled and works with the LG ThinQ app—an app I personally like—allowing for remote monitoring/control and even suggesting optimal drying cycles to a paired LG dryer. With an big drum and sleek features, the LG 6700 offers an impressive blend of capacity and speed to burn through laundry day in a hurry.

Pros

  • Large wash drum

  • Fast cycles

  • Solid stain-scrubbing power

Cons

  • Causes more wear and tear damage than average

  • AI Wash cycle is underwhelming

Cleaning Performance – Winner: Electrolux ELFW7637AT

When it comes to banishing tough stains, the Electrolux ELFW7637AT takes the lead. In our testing, it delivered top-tier stain removal across a variety of soils, outperforming many high-end competitors. Above all else, a washing machine's job is to get clothes clean, which is why the Electrolux 600 Series tops our best front-load washers list. What’s the secret? Powerful cycles and smart technology. It’s good at premixing the detergent and water. The Pure Rinse option bypasses the dispenser, so it doesn’t pick up any residual detergent or fabric softener. The Sanitize and Allergen options work well.

By contrast, the LG WM6700HBA is merely good—about on par with other front-loaders we’ve tested and ahead of the average top-loader. However, one hiccup was its AI Wash cycle, which took longer and wasn’t as thorough as expected. Overall, both washers will get your clothes very clean, but the Electrolux 600 Series’ consistently outstanding stain removal and sanitizing capabilities give it a slight edge in cleaning performance.

Features – Winner: LG WM6700HBA

Both models come loaded with special features, but the LG WM6700HBA packs in more high-tech innovation. This LG offers a whopping 25 wash programs (from everyday cycles to specialty ones like Bright Whites, Swimwear, and Kids Wear) plus 19 additional options – an array that far exceeds the Electrolux’s selections. Will you use them all? Probably not, but it’s possible to find a few that you love and then fold into your weekly usage. It also includes TurboWash 360° for faster cycles, Wi-Fi connectivity to the ThinQ app for end-of-cycle notifications and even custom wash cycles, and an automatic detergent dispenser.

The Electrolux ELFW7637AT, on the other hand, focuses on practical, fabric-care features. There’s no Wi-Fi connectivity and no app. There are also fewer cycles, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing because you’re more likely to actually use all these cycles, unlike the LG. Bonus features include the Adaptive Dispenser that releases detergent pods at the optimal time rather than just tossing them in the drum, as well as Pure Rinse to reduce skin-irritating detergent residue on your clothes.

Ease of Use – Winner: Electrolux ELFW7637AT

The Electrolux ELFW7637AT is easier to use simply because it’s a less tech-y product with fewer features and options. The intuitive central rotary knob for cycle selection looks great, with its light-up display, and gives a satisfying click when turned. The rest of the buttons on the control panel are clearly labeled and tactile (no complicated touchscreens). Electrolux also pays attention to the little things that improve usability, like the fact that the washer’s door is reversible (unlike the LG). It even has an auto-propping door to help ventilate the drum and prevent mildew—a common complaint with front-loaders.

The LG WM6700HBA, by virtue of its huge laundry list of features (pun intended), has a more complex interface. You might experience a longer learning curve than with the Electrolux, especially once you factor in the ThinQ app. The futuristic panel looks sleek and offers a lot of customization, but with 25 cycles to scroll through and various sub-options, it can be a bit overwhelming until you get used to it.

Cycle Time – Winner: LG WM6700HBA

Both washers are fast, but if speed is your priority, the LG WM6700HBA will consistently save you more time in more cycles. The WM6700HBA can wash medium-sized loads in about 30 minutes using the TurboWash 360° jets. For larger loads, the normal and heavy cycles are still shorter than average without sacrificing cleaning power. And because the drum is so large, you’re getting through that whole pile of stuff in your hamper that much faster.

By comparison, the Electrolux ELFW7637AT has a 15-minute Fast Wash cycle, but it’s only intended for a small load of lightly soiled items. On regular full loads, the Electrolux’s cycle times are more typical, and some cycles (like Heavy Duty or Sanitize) tend to run on the longer side. Yes, things get clean, but it comes at a cost, and this was one of our few complaints in testing.

Capacity – Winner: LG WM6700HBA

The LG WM6700HBA boasts a 5.0 cubic foot drum, which is larger than the 4.5 cu.ft. drum in the Electrolux. As mentioned above, the LG is also faster. Combine that speed and capacity and you’re blazing through laundry day.

Size – Winner: Electrolux ELFW7637AT

Electrolux ELFW7637AT and LG WM6700HBA Front-Load Washing Machines side by side with labels to measure their dimensions
Credit: Electrolux / LG / Reviewed

These two washers are nearly the same exterior size, but not quite.

The Electrolux ELFW7637AT measures 27″ x 38″ x 32″ (W x H x D).

The LG WM6700HBA measures 27″ x 39″ x 33 1/4" (W x H x D).

While the difference is very small, that extra 1 1/4" of depth in the LG could be the difference between fitting in a shallow closet or not. For maximizing space, the Electrolux 600 Series takes the win.

Warranty and Reliability – Winner: Electrolux ELFW7637AT

The Electrolux 600 Series comes with a great warranty that gives it an edge. Electrolux covers 1 year parts and labor, 10 years for the motor, and lifetime coverage of the drum (tub). You don’t see a lot of lifetime warranties on anything in appliances, so it stands out as a vote of confidence.

The LG 6700, by comparison, includes the standard 1-year parts & labor warranty, 10 years on the direct drive motor, and 3 years on the drum. It’s solid coverage, but doesn’t quite match Electrolux’s tub warranty.

In terms of reliability, both brands have an excellent reputation. Yes, LG has had some bumps along the way, but as of today, they’re top-rated for reliability by several retailers and publishers.

Likewise, Electrolux washers have earned high marks for reliability. And while Electrolux has the better warranty, in terms of what to expect over the life of the washer, it’s pretty much a tie.

Overall – Winner: Electrolux ELFW7637AT

The Electrolux ELFW7637AT is our Best Overall front-load washer, so of course it’s winning in this match-up. To be clear, we like both these washers, but the Electrolux emerges as the better all-around choice for most users. It’s better at stain removal and easier to use. It’s not a “smart” connected appliance and there are far fewer features, but the features it does have are genuinely useful.

The LG WM6700HBA’s larger capacity and faster cycles may make it preferable for large families trying to speed through laundry chores, or for those who value high-tech appliances.
