We're a little over a month into 2019, but it's honestly felt like its been going on for a couple of months. While it may seem like this year is more turbulent than the last, we all have one thing to look forward to—new products. Every passing month, no matter how long it actually feels, means more advanced technology and, therefore, more products to help you improve your life. From unique kitchen gadgets to something that will upgrade your TV, you deserve something nice this year and there are plenty of products that fit the bill.

Whether it's a time-honored cult-favorite product or something new and sparkly that everyone's talking about, there are some items that should be on everyone's wishlist. We rounded up 15 things that everyone needs to buy this year. Not only will a few of these products give a major upgrade to the things you already have, but others can help you survive the stress of the rest of the year. There's only 10 more months, right?

1. A smart doorbell to spy on your packages

Keep an eye out with this fancy doorbell.

Smart doorbells are an underrated piece of smart home technology. Not only can you use them to see who’s at the door without getting up, but you can also check on packages or get alerts about suspicious activity. After testing a few smart doorbells, we found that the Ring Video Doorbell 2 was the best for most people. Its smartphone app connected to the doorbell’s live feed faster and more consistently than the others, and it had fantastically clear night vision, making it ideal for checking on nighttime visitors.

2. Reusable straws so you can be more sustainable

Be a little more sustainable this year.

It’s 2019, so why are you still using plastic straws? The little sticks of plastic grew super controversial last summer, but while the trend has died down, the issue of single-use plastic is still very relevant. No one really wants (or can remember) to bring a reusable straw on the go, but you can easily keep a few in your home or office and ask for no straws at restaurants or coffee shops. These glass straws from Hummingbird are the best reusable straws we’ve ever tested because they’re aesthetically pleasing and don’t taste like the material they’re made unlike the metal, bamboo, and silicone straws you can also find.

Get the Hummingbird Glass Straws, Set of 4 on Amazon for $24.99

3. A wireless charging stand for easy charging

Charge your phone more conveniently this year.

Most current-gen. smartphones have been upgraded with Qi technology for wireless charging, and if you haven’t taken advantage of it, then you're really missing out. There are tons of wireless charging pads out there, but want to know what’s better? A wireless charging stand. It makes it so much easier to use your phone without disrupting the charge. You can place your phone vertically so you can easily view notifications and open your phone with FaceID, or you can rest it horizontally to watch videos while it charges.

Samsung makes our favorite fast wireless charging pad, but we're confident their stand model will charge just as well.

4. An USB hand warmer for your commute and cold office

Beat your cold office one and for all.

For whatever reason—no matter the season—offices are always freezing. If you suffer from bad circulation like I do, then your hands get especially cold at work. But I found one simple solution that everyone should have: a small rechargeable hand warmer. You simply charge it with a microUSB cable and instantly warm your soul with three different heat settings that will last about two hours on a single charge. Bonus: It also works as a portable charger for your phone in a pinch.

5. A magical egg cooker that makes breakfast so easy

Breakfast just got a whole lot easier.

Cooking perfect eggs is honestly difficult. Too many times the yolk is overly runny or overcooked, essentially ruining your breakfast. But our breakfast prayers have been answered with this egg cooker from Dash Cooks. It quickly whips up nearly every style of egg and will help you finally make the perfect poached egg for your avocado toast. We were a bit skeptical if it actually worked, but after testing it in our office, we were sold and a bunch of us still use it to make our breakfast during the workweek.

6. A soundbar for a major TV upgrade

Get an upgrade without getting a new TV.

Do you ever feel like you have to raise the volume of your TV exponentially just to hear your favorite show? Instead of spending hundreds of dollars on a new TV, you can enhance your viewing experience with a soundbar. The Razer Leviathan is the best soundbar under $250 that we’ve ever tested, and it still costs less than $200. Although it’s made with gamers in mind, and does not include a remote, it will still seriously change the way you watch TV.

7. An espresso maker for elitist coffee in the morning

Upgrade your morning coffee.

Even if you have a regular coffee maker, nothing beats the taste of espresso. If you want to sip one of these fancy coffee drinks from the comfort of your home instead of overpaying at a fancy coffee shop, then we recommend investing in an espresso maker this year. Plus, things don’t even have to be too complicated with a device like the Nespresso, which is the best single-serve espresso maker we’ve ever tested. You just put a pod in and wait for the magic to happen.

8. A Tubshroom so you can stop clogging your drain

Stop shower clogs once and for all with this gadget.

Clogged drains are the worst—and they get pretty nasty to clean. But thanks to a little piece of silicone called the TubShroom, clogged drains can be a thing of the past. You simply stick it in your shower drain to collect all the hair that would otherwise cause disgusting clogs. I recently put one in my shower and it has made life so much easier. Clean up is simple, though you may have to do it fairly often depending on how much hair you have. You literally just wipe the hair out with a paper towel and pop it back in place and get on with your life. It's way better than fighting with a drain snake.

9. Plants that make you look like you have it together

These plants are particularly hard to kill.

Plants bring joy, in my humble opinion. They add some nice greenery to your home and show that you can take care of something. Caring for them is also pretty low stakes, so you don’t feel completely terrible about letting them wilt away—unlike, say, a pet or a child. Thankfully, there are some plant varieties that are harder to kill, but my go to for anyone with a black thumb is succulents. They’re really hard to kill and require little watering or sunlight, which is honestly ideal for anyone.

10. A diffuser for all of the relaxing scents

InnoGear Upgraded 150ml Diffuser

Get the sweet smell of a candle—no burning required.

Essential oil diffusers can really set the vibe in your home. You can run scents like eucalyptus and lavender for a relaxing evening after a particularly long day. They're also safer than candles because there's no flame, so you don't have to worry about accidentally burning the house down. The InnoGear Upgraded 150ml Diffuser is the best essential oil diffuser we’ve ever tested because it locks to prevent spillage and can run for up to 11 hours, which means you can run it throughout the day and come home to great smells.

Get the InnoGear Upgraded 150ml Diffuser, 2-Pack on Amazon for $28.99

Clean teeth. Happy mouth.

Dental hygiene is important, people! You know your dentist keeps telling you to get an electric toothbrush, so maybe this will be the year you finally do so. Electric toothbrushes really give your mouth a whole new feeling of clean and the Oral-B Pro 3000 is our favorite electric toothbrush. It has three cleaning modes and breaks up your two minutes of brushing into four 30-second segments, so you brush every quadrant of your mouth equally. It’s a game changer in oral health whether you're a model dental patient or still trying to develop better brushing habits.

12. The cult-favorite Instant Pot

It's the cooking gadget everyone is talking about.

I’ll say it before and I’ll say it again: The Instant Pot is the best thing I’ve ever purchased. Thanks to its pressure cooking setting, I’ve really streamlined my dinner and have stumbled upon so many delicious Instant Pot recipes I'm now obsessed with. I mean, it only took me 20 minutes to cook a spaghetti squash as opposed to 50 minutes in the oven, and now I'm never going back. If you haven’t gotten one yet, then what are you waiting for?

13. A unique power cube for all your devices

Anker PowerPort Cube

All of your devices plugged in one place.

Power strips are helpful for plugging in multiple devices at once, but they are kind of ugly and awkward. Instead, switch to this power "cube" from Anker. It has three outlets and three USB ports for multiple plugs of any size, and it offers high-speed charging for your devices. At only 2 1/2 cubic inches, it's easy to place on (or under) a desk or throw into a carry-on when you're traveling.

14. A bright flashlight to light the night

Anker Bolder LC40 Flashlight

The flashlight you should always have handy.

Flashlights are necessary to have in almost any emergency, so you might as well get one of the brightest ones around. The Anker Bolder LC40 is our favorite affordable flashlight because it’s super bright and available at a reasonable price point. Even better, it’s USB rechargeable so you don’t have to deal with those odd-sized batteries traditional flashlights typically have.

Get the Anker Bolder LC40 on Amazon for $15.99
