About the Arzopa D14 Digital Photo Frame

  • Display size: 14 inches
  • Resolution: 1920 x 1200 pixels
  • Storage: 32GB
  • Aspect ratio: 16:10

This sleek 14-inch digital frame resembles a standard photo frame—thanks to its attractive brushed brass border—but it can actually hold up to 80,000 photos that it displays in a revolving slideshow.

Users need the companion Arzopa App to use the frame, but the app is free and straightforward to use.

How we tested

My main concern regarding the Arzopa test was its ease of setup. While I personally find it annoying when a device takes an inordinate amount of time to get up and running, I know that digital picture frames are a popular gift to give to grandparents or other older relatives who aren’t always technologically savvy, so ease of use was a key factor I’d be looking at.

Coincidentally, my Boomer parents happened to be staying with us while I tested the Arzopa digital frame, so I got them involved with the process to see how they fared.

Once we got the Arzopa set up and the slideshow rolling, I invited other family members to contribute photos so we could see how easy and fast it was for them to share shots. We then placed the Arzopa in various spots around the house throughout the week to see if we liked how it looked mixed in with more traditional framed photos and artwork.

What we like

What a relief! It’s easy to set up

When it comes to testing digital products, this is always my number one concern, because very few people have time to dither around for an hour trying to get something online and working.

I’m happy to say setting up the Arzopa was a breeze: It took just a few minutes to get it unboxed, plugged in, and showing photos. You do have to download the companion Arzopa app, but the included QR codes made it super quick and simple to pair our particular device with the app.

Photos upload quickly

Once you download the app, you can add photos to your photo frame at any time and from anywhere with Wi-Fi or cell reception. The Arzopa app will pull all your photos and albums from your iPhone, and then you can pick and choose which ones you want to add to the frame.

I started out by adding just the album I’d created for my Framebridge gallery wall project, but as the week went on, I added more and more of my favorite photos.

I also invited my husband and parents to add their favorite photos. All I had to do was send them an invite link, and then they were able to download the app and start adding pictures.

Even though they weren’t the primary “owner” of the frame like me, their photos uploaded quickly, too.

It looks like a “real” frame

The Arzopa has a pretty, brassy frame, so it looks very much like something you would purchase at your local framing shop. It didn’t look totally out of place sitting on a shelf with other framed photos.

I love my Skylight calendar that doubles as a digital picture frame, but it does not look anything like a traditional frame. It’s white, it’s clearly plastic, and it’s not something I would want sitting on a shelf in my den.

It’s great for grandparents

If your parents are anything like mine, they’re always asking for new photos of the grandkids. The Arzopa makes it easy to send them fresh new photos with one click. Additionally, they can include their own favorite snaps of the grandkids or any vintage photos that have been digitized (like with Legacy Box).

In fact, my Mom asked if she could take the Arzopa home with her when she left—and of course I agreed.

What we don’t like

There’s no battery option

My biggest issue with the Arzopa digital frame is that it lacks a battery option, and you have to keep it plugged in at all times. While this isn’t a problem if you want to keep your frame sitting on a surface where an outlet is within reach, I really wanted to put my frame on the built-in bookshelves in our den, but since there isn’t an outlet inside of them, that was a no-go. I would love for the frame to be rechargeable, so I wouldn’t have to keep it on my kitchen counter.

Settings aren’t very intuitive

The default setting for the Arzopa is to show the date and time on the front of the frame. I found this to be super annoying—I wanted a picture frame, not a calendar—but I couldn’t figure out how to get them to go away.

I finally searched online and found out how to do it, but the button to toggle was under “slideshow” rather than just under “settings,” which I found misleading.

The user name is always displayed

Unfortunately, the one thing you can’t remove from the display is the user name of the person who added each particular photo. It’s a small icon in the upper left-hand corner.

Again, I wanted this to resemble an analog picture frame rather than a tech device, and the user name display compromises some of the effect.

Warranty

The standard warranty for the Arzopa D14 Digital Frame is a 1-year limited warranty from the date of the original purchase. There is also an optional extended warranty program available, which you can take advantage of by registering your product on Arzopa's website.

Should you buy the Arzopa D14 Digital Photo Frame?

Yes

If you, like me, want to surround yourself with your favorite photographs, but just don’t have the time (or the budget) to print photos and buy individual frames, the Arzopa D14 Digital Photo Frame is a good alternative. While it still resembles a digital device, it offers a streamlined way to enjoy your favorite photos without requiring a lot of effort.

It also makes a great gift for grandparents or other relatives—especially since it’s easy to set up and add photos to the slideshow.
