When evaluating any piece of tech, time has a funny way of warping your perspective. My giant 60-inch, rear projection 480p TV was amazing in 1999, but these days I couldn't pay somebody to take it off my hands. Laptops, especially, tend to advance so quickly that relying on wisdom from even a few years ago can lead you down the wrong path.
One example of this is the new 2015 Apple 13-inch MacBook Air (MSRP $999, $1,449 as tested).
