This has been another year of adapting and finding our new normal. Home offices are still occupied, but life has gotten back to being busy in a big way, and cooking projects (sourdough from scratch, anyone?) have taken a backseat to juggling dinner prep with homework help and sports practices.

The experts at Reviewed have been hard at work cooking, baking, grilling, and otherwise testing their way through the best products available. Multipurpose appliances like the Ninja Speedi, our new best air fryer, and other multicookers stand out as favorite countertop appliances for helping get dinner on the table faster, while still letting us enjoy a little time in the kitchen.

Best Cookware Set
HexClad Hybrid Cookware 13-Piece Chef's Package

HexClad cookware is relatively new to the scene, and its claim to fame is its unique hybrid technology that combines all the features you love about stainless steel with the ease of use of nonstick pans. Our chicken thighs had some of the most even, gorgeous searing out of any skillet we’ve used, and it was exceptionally easy to clean because any built-up bits wiped off easily with a paper towel. Unlike most nonstick, the Hexclad can be used with metal utensils because of its unique laser-etched hexagon top, which also makes it less likely to scratch. These pans contain a magnetic layer, too, so you can use them on induction cooktops. Read the full review.

Best Stand Mixer
KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixer

The KitchenAid Artisan is the quintessential stand mixer for a reason. Easy to set up and with the quietest motor we tested, the Artisan was a pleasure to use and passed through all our tests with aplomb. Despite its many competitors, our tests prove that it is still number one out of the best stand mixers you can buy. Read the full review.

Best Coffee Maker
Technivorm Moccamaster KBGV Select

With its mid-century design and an exposed reservoir, you'll want to leave the Moccamaster out on the counter even when it’s not in use. But it doesn't just look great. Indeed, the pricey Moccamaster brews a complex and smooth pot of coffee that ranked the highest—and continues to—in our taste tests. This machine also fills a full pot quickly—a necessity for the morning rush. Read the full review.

Best Knife Set
Misen Essentials 7-Piece Knife Set

If you want a complete, high-quality knife set without breaking the bank, look to Misen’s Essentials 7-piece Knife Set. In addition to the basics—the chef’s knife, pairing knife and bread knife—you get a santoku knife that’s perfect for chopping vegetables, and a smaller utility knife that’s perfect for foods like apples and shallots, plus kitchen sheers and a beautiful walnut storage block. These knives are comfortable to hold, and each has a sloped bolster that makes it easier to learn how to properly grip the knife on the blade instead of by the handle. Made of premium AUS10 Japanese steel, and at only $300, this set offers a lot of quality for a relatively small price tag. Read the full review.

Solidly built, perfectly round, and easy to clean, the Staub Round Cocotte aced every test we threw at it. From braising meat and vegetables to simmering a stew, this Dutch oven nailed it. Best Pressure Cooker
Ninja Foodi OL701

This workhorse multicooker boasts 14 different cooking functions—from commonplace pressure cooking and air frying to more advanced bread proofing and sous vide. We especially love the Steam & Crisp function, which can be used to whip up grains, veggies, and protein all at the same time and with excellent results. This model also features a smart thermometer, which can be used to automatically cook protein according to the desired doneness. Just insert the probe, decide how well you'd like your meat cooked, and the Foodi does the rest. Read the full review.

Best Air Fryer
Ninja Speedi Rapid Cooker & Air Fryer

This versatile appliance excels at air frying, acing all of our standard tests to overtake our previous winner and become our new best air fryer. It also has nine other functions, including steaming and combination cooking that gives it the ability to cook 3-component meals—think chicken, rice, and a vegetable—simultaneious, quickly, and with delicious results. This heavy duty machine is worth the countertop space, especially if you love crispy foods and want an air fryer that can do even more. Read the full review.

The Best Gass Grills

Best Grill
Weber Spirit II E-310

The Weber Spirit II E-310 may be the brand’s entry-level grill, but it didn’t act like a lesser product when it came to performance. It was our favorite grill to use on every test, producing perfect sear marks on up to 18 burgers at a time, evenly cooked chicken, and picture-perfect asparagus. Its 30,000 BTUs (71 per square inch) crank out an impressive amount of heat. We also loved some of the aesthetic features, and the grill itself felt well put together and built to last. Best Ceramic Pan
GreenPan Valencia Pro Ceramic Nonstick 11" Fry Pan

When it comes to ceramic nonstick skillets, there are a lot of beautiful options on the market, but we prefer function over aesthetics. That’s not to say the GreenPan Valencia Pro 11-inch ceramic nonstick skillet doesn't look good—it does—that’s just not its priority. In regular, everyday use it releases all forms of eggs without any sticking, sears meat with excellent color, and cleans up with little more than a quick wipe. Whether you purchase it on its own or as part of the Valencia Pro set, we highly recommend this skillet. Read the full review.

It’s an affordable, high-quality nonstick pan that’s just right for day-to-day kitchen tasks. It’s easy to hold and all manner of eggs and meats cook evenly without sticking. This pan also happens to be our best value, which makes it an excellent buy in addition to being a top performer. Read the full review.

Best Slow Cooker
Cuisinart MSC-600

Not only is the Cuisinart 6-quart 3-in-1 Cook Central Multicooker excellent at slow cooking (pot roast came out tasting moist, tender, and flavorful—yet still intact—during our tests), it can also brown/sauté, roast, and steam for a variety of recipes. This slow cooker was also one of the only programmable models we tried that was easy to set without referring to a manual. With an easy-to-use interface, deliciously tender results, and an attractive stainless steel exterior, this machine is a no-brainer. Read the full review.

Best Outdoor Pizza Oven
Solo Stove Pi Pizza Oven (Wood & Gas)

As a pizza oven, the Solo Stove Pi blew us away during testing. The airflow design is exceptional, using a convection-style technique to distribute heat throughout the vessel that results in tasty, evenly cooked pizza. The pizza stone also heats up quickly and maintains heat exceptionally well. (It hit 780°F after just 20 minutes with the propane attachment, and cooled down and reheated impressively quickly afterward). It's also decently light compared to similar ovens, which means you can easily transport it during a camping trip (or to a friend's house to show it off). Read the full review.

Ice maker on a kitchen counter
Best Ice Machine
GE Profile Opal Nugget Ice Dispenser

Nugget ice lovers: This one's for you. If you have an endless appetite for chewable ice (or homemade iced coffee) this pricey machine is worth a spot on your countertop. During testing, we enjoyed the Opal Nugget Ice Dispenser's sleek user interface and fast ice delivery—no scoop required. It’s that addition of the dispenser capability that places this model ahead of our previous winner for Best Ice Maker. It also works quietly and has smart app capabilities to be sure there's always plenty of fresh ice at the ready. Read the full review.

A designer kitchen featuring the Samsung Bespoke refrigerator

Best in Kitchen Design
Samsung Bespoke

While Americans first heard about Samsung’s Bespoke refrigerators at CES 2021, the electronics and home appliances giant broadened its sleek, custom-design offerings to the rest of the kitchen this year. Finally, consumers have a say in appliance aesthetics, beyond stainless or matte finishes, with the ability to select from panels, in either glass or steel of a dozen different colors, that they can then mix and match across the Bespoke Samsung kitchen suite and even the appliances themselves. Sick of a color after six months? Buy a new panel without having to buy a whole new appliance. Find refrigerators in a few styles, including French-door varieties, bottom freezer, and column fridges. Consumers can also shop Bespoke over-the-range microwaves, ranges, and dishwashers. Bespoke appliances combine Samsung’s trademark SmartThings smart technology with a design look that’s completely different from anything else on the market. Read the full review.
