It has enough storage space to satisfy the whole family during the holidays, energy savings that may make the initial hit to the wallet more bearable, and a refrigeration quality that the manufacturer can be proud of. If you've got the money and are looking to upgrade from an entry or mid-priced fridge, the Kenmore 72023 (MSRP $2349.99) is a great model to consider.

Tired of top-freezers and side-by-sides? Give the Whirlpool GB2FHDXWS a try. With consistent temperatures and low energy consumption, it won't disappoint -- unless you're a heavy user of the freezer.

If you're looking for a French door fridge in the $1400 range and don't mind a small freezer, the Maytag MFF2558VEM is a good choice with consistent temperature performance and an energy efficient design.

The B22CS30SNS is pricey at $1800. Its performance isn't better than a fridge that costs half as much.

Proving that counter-depth fridges can perform just as well as their full-sized big brothers, the E522BRX delivers performance that ranges from adequate in some areas to outstanding in others. At the end of the day, though, it's still a counter-depth fridge, offering less storage space than even some of the smallest—and cheapest—full-sized options.

In such an overcrowded appliance market, only a few items are genuinely fantastic or terrible. Most float somewhere in the middle, including the GE Profile PFSS2MJYSS. This stainless steel fridge had some minor issues, but they weren't really substantial enough to detract from overall performance. It also had some strong points, but nothing worth getting excited over.
