Every year brings a new wave of laptops promising faster chips, longer battery life, and smarter designs, but only a few actually live up to the hype. Reviewed’s experts spend months every year testing everything from budget-friendly student laptops to high-powered gaming rigs, and we’re pretty excited about the 2025 selection.

This year’s lineup is stronger than ever, with some excellent options from Apple, Asus, and Dell that prove great performance doesn’t have to mean making compromises. Whether you want something thin and portable or a machine built for creative work, our team found the laptops that rise above the rest.

Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 (2024)

The 2024 Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 feels like the rare laptop that gets almost everything right. It’s compact without being cramped, quiet without being weak, and powerful enough to handle games and creative software with ease. The 14-inch OLED display looks sharp and colorful, and the new aluminum body feels sturdy while keeping the weight low. The keyboard has a firm, satisfying feel, and the trackpad is big and responsive. The only real tradeoff is that the memory is soldered, so you can’t upgrade it later. Battery life is better than most gaming laptops, and the cooling system stays surprisingly calm under load. It’s the kind of laptop that feels comfortable to use all day, whether you’re working or playing.

Apple MacBook Air 13 M4 (2025)

The MacBook Air 13 M4 keeps Apple’s familiar design but feels faster and more polished in everyday use. The new M4 chip handles multitasking smoothly, and the fanless design keeps it completely silent. The 13-inch display is bright and crisp, and the build quality still feels best in class. The upgraded webcam is a nice improvement, especially for calls or meetings, and the new Sky Blue color gives it a subtle refresh. Battery life stays strong even with heavier workloads. The only weak spot is storage on the lower-end models, which fill up fast. It’s still the most dependable laptop for people who want something light, quiet, and capable without paying pro-level prices.

Inside, the Intel Core i9 processor and RTX 4070 graphics card handle almost anything you throw at them. Best Gaming Monitor
Samsung 27-inch Odyssey 3D G90XF 4K 165Hz Gaming Monitor

The Samsung Odyssey 3D G90XF is one of those rare pieces of tech that feels genuinely new. The 27-inch 4K screen can show 3D content without glasses, using eye-tracking cameras to shift depth as you move. The effect is surprisingly convincing and works well with supported games, giving them a sense of space that feels immersive but not tiring. Even in 2D mode, the screen looks bright, clear, and smooth, with a 165Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. Apple Macbook Air 13 M4, open on a desktop
Credit: Reviewed
Most Trusted Laptop Brand
Apple

Love them or hate them, Apple makes consistently great laptops. You can join the crowds that heap criticisms on them about being overpriced, unimaginative, or too locked down in their own ecosystem. You cannot, however, knock them for much else. Apple's MacBook Airs and MacBook Pros are reliable and powerful. Oftentimes, they're the single best laptops on the market—case in point, the Apple MacBook Air 13 M4 taking home our Best Laptop of the Year award.

Trust is earned over time. It requires consistency, a reputation for products that last (no shortage of anecdotal data on that point!), and the backing of a good warranty. In true Apple fashion, Apple managed to turn its own warranty program into a recognized brand: AppleCare. Macs come with a 1-year warranty covering defects (not damage). AppleCare+ is available for a fee and greatly extends the coverage, though details vary across the product lines.
